Project story

Illinois Warrior to Warrior

Bridging the gap between military service and civilian life

Through Illinois Warrior to Warrior, volunteer veterans receive training in communication skills and community resources from the Illinois National Guard and Health & Disability Advocates with the common purpose to "Leave No Soldier Behind." Webitects worked with the dedicated team at Health & Disability Advocates to create a new website for the program and to replace an outdated contact management system with a comprehensive and easy-to-use web-based solution.

Detailed reports of outcomes and demographics

Previously volunteers and staff used a generic contact database that was adapted from a similar program in another state—it worked, but never fulfilled all the needs of the Illinois program. Webitects gathered requirements by analyzing the current system and soliciting input from stakeholders and volunteers. The result is a customized solution tailored to address the program's specific needs.

The new website provides an overview of the program, an image carousel highlighting statistics to build awareness, and encourages action through donations and a call to action for volunteer opportunities. Volunteers may apply to participate in the program through the website and those that are accepted become part of a select cadre of specially trained "Warriors."

Connecting soldiers to services they need

Through the system we built, volunteer veterans have access to an extensive referral database for social service and community resources that might be useful to the soldiers they assist. The system helps volunteers track interactions, reminds them of cases on which to follow-up, and provides a case history for future reference. All information is carefully stored and encrypted so that only the volunteer can access personally identifiable information.

The system aggregates interactions and referrals so that program staff may identify trends, monitor volunteer activity, and report outcomes. Outcome reporting was a critical need addressed by this project—demonstrating the depth and breadth of the program's impact supports and justifies ongoing funding efforts.

The Illinois Warrior to Warrior website and volunteer database is an example of a web-based solution designed and built by Webitects to address the unique needs of a client. Return to our portfolio for other examples of custom website and web application development.
