Online fundraising tips from our work with Wikipedia (TechWeek 2012 Conference)
We'd like to thank the Wikimedia Foundation, and especially Peter Gehres, for coming to TechWeek Chicago and sharing the results of the work we did together to optimize the donation conversion rate in 2010 and 2011. It is very much in the spirit of Wikipedia to let others learn from its work.
If you are raising funds online, you may find the following slides and video helpful. Peter from Wikimedia and Billy Belchev from Webitects go through some best practices for online donation experience design. Some are now obvious (remove all form fields you can), some are more suprising (graphs can be distracting).
